I Want to Hug Alice.com
It’s like Alice is my friend. She has a great personality. She helps me shop, she’s organized, I don’t have to leave the comfort of my house and all my favorite household products are delivered to my doorstep. Did I mention shipping is free?
My Alice Story
I got word that Alice (in beta) had launched, plus my friend who happens to work in marketing and social media at Alice, Rebecca Thorman has been excitably prepping the community for the launch through giveaways, Twitter and blogging. By the way, just in case, Alice “provides you a better way to manage all of your household essentials online.”
Ordering From Alice, Yo
I created an account with ease (basic: username and password). The ordering process was interactive and user friendly. I was able to search “By Room” for products such as “Medicine Cabinet,” “Office,” etc. There’s also a power search so if I wanted a certain product (I have this toothpaste I love) I was able to cut right to the chase and add it to my order.
Below you will see an internal view of my account. I’ve highlighted some of the cool features. I noticed with my purchase the prices were competitive and it was hassle free because I didn’t have to head to the store, fill my bags and carry them into my house. If you’re really price conscious Alice.com, even allows you to price compare with other retail sites. I ordered six products I needed on a Monday, then waited to see when they would arrive.

[Interlude] Customer Service Story
Since I lived in New England for four and a half years, sometimes I would indulge in the cheap coffee of Dunkin’ Donuts (don’t judge, I drink Italian espresso too). It’s nostalgic for me. So in my Alice.com order I included ground coffee from Dunkin’ (DD’s). The day after I submitted my order, I got a personal e-mail from Marci on their Customer Support team letting me know that they were discontinuing DD coffee (although mine was already in the mail) and she suggested a few other brands I might be interested in, showing me where to find them on Alice. I’m a customer service junkie and am always paying attention to the little things that count. This is one of them. It was personable and they’re on the ball.
Alice On My Doorstep
When I received my Alice box on my doorstep it was gratifying. The black and blue box had arrived by Friday and my order was made Monday afternoon. Booyah. Not to mention the packaging was green and recyclable, with all my products intact. It’s that easy.
One thing I might suggest would be some sort of fun note or feedback form included in the order, beyond just the standard invoice. This might be stretching it, but the Alice team has been very proactive in letting their customers/community know how fun they are, not to mention, the launch is in beta so their first round of customers will be important to retain and learn from in terms of feedback.
Nonetheless, I love Alice.com. I love that large families and someone who is 23 (e.g. me) can legitimately benefit from their creative, useful service. The team is smart and they’re thinking of everyone’s best interest. That’s why I feel like I want to hug Alice.com (yes, I know it’s a team, not one lady) but they do such a good job you might feel the same way. So what are you waiting for?
