September Goals

2009 September 6
by Grace Boyle

Goal setting is important. For me, it’s even more important to write them down and then look back to evaluate what you accomplished.

With that being said, I’m joining in on Rebecca’s monthly goal meetups over at Modite. It’s a group effort where other bloggers will write their own goals for the month (and look back at last month’s) then everyone can support each other and also learn. For me, I’m putting it out there so I feel a little more pressure (publicly) to get to it.

September Goals

  • Focus on traveling, meeting directly with clients, stepping into a new position at work and gaining more responsibility.
  • Gym and yoga 4-5 times a week.
  • Read 2 books for pleasure
  • Keep time for myself, at least once a week. (I have so many visitors and a crazy schedule that sometimes I forget to do things for just me. I want to keep sane).

Short and simple. Some of these goals are lifelong really but they’re also personal to me. If you want to join in with other bloggers, check out Rebecca’s post and read through the comments for others joining in.

  • Hi Grace. I like the 2 books for pleasure goal. I think I may use that idea next month and start off easy with 1 book. :) I won't have to buy or go to the library for the books either - I have bought books with good intentions of reading them ... and then not read them. Good luck with all your goals this month!
  • @Mark Thanks! Lately, it has been pretty easy for me but I think I've gotten more into the book-worm pace :) I love to read and I also try to read before bed instead of being on my computer. It's calming and an easy way to get in some pages. Good luck with yours, Mark!

Yoga/exercise sounds awesome. Doing that more would definitely make everything else easier, don't you think? Honestly, everything clicks more when I'm well worked-out!

    Good luck with your goals!
  • Yes! Yoga is pretty refreshing and it's an overall physical and mental strength that grows. So far, so good. I've been "on schedule" with my goals ; )
  • Love your goals! Sorry I am joining in so late, but just wanted to wish you luck with these :) Come to think of it, I need to add exercise to mine as well. haha. Anyway good luck!
  • @Akhila Thanks! The mix of wellness and professional helps me balance my life ;)
  • Damn, gym and yoga 4-5 times per week? I think I said 3 miles every other day for myself. I *used* to go to the gym every day (nights really; 11:00 - 1:00am). That was back in college when I had my gym membership courtesy of my tuition. Now, I head out to the Rosebowl for my runs and head over to the YMCA when I find the time. I guess I should try joining a 24 Hour fitness or something, no?

Well Grace, here's to reaching your September goals! I think they're great goals and I know you can rock 'em :-)
  • @Ricardo Thanks for stopping by and the support. This is why the goals are public and Rebecca has launched this idea. It's so awesome to get support from people online or "outside" of your local friend group. Yeah, I'm going to see how it goes with gym and yoga 4-5 times a week. So far, so good :)

I concur with you on the working out! I made a similar goal! Good Luck in keeping it up. I'm going to a gym tomorrow to check it out. AND I worked out almost every day over the long weekend!

Also, if you need inspiration on books to read, check out goodreads.com. You can find me at http://www.goodreads.com/monicarolevans we can share inspiration!
  • @Monica Good for you! Let's definitely keep it up. I went to yoga before work this morning, it was amazing. Thanks for the Good Reads link, I've heard good things and I will definitely check it out.

Hi, I am following you from Rebecca's blog. Your list of goals are great, some business and some personal. I wish you much success with your goals and am inspired to jot down my goals at zestolife.blogspot.com. Look forward to sharing encouraging and inspiring words throughout the month. Best,
  • @CJ Hi it's nice to 'meet' and thanks for stopping by my blog. I too, am looking forward to supporting and collaborating with other bloggers through Rebecca's monthly goal meetup.
  • @Rebecca I suppose it mostly meant that they're less tangible versus "Gain 35 new blog subscribers," or something like that. I'm excited to have written them out and thank you for the inspiration.

    @Jen Thank you :)

@Meenal I'm happy you feel the same way. Maybe write out your goals?

@Frugal Living I know, I usually shoot pretty high. Each of these goals are pretty attainable to me but I really do need to focus on them, then the rest should fall in to place. Thanks for stopping by.
  • Wow those are pretty high goals but by writing them down you are taking a step in the right direction.

I have not been exercising for a month due to just moving to Egypt... However I have been checking out some yoga places and a gym nearby and am looking forward to getting stuck in again.

    Thanks,
    Forest.
  • I'm the same way about writing things down. It makes them feel much more real to me. Anyway, I'm with you on the second and third goals. I'm in dire need of exercise, and always behind on reading for pleasure. Let's hope we accomplish them!

I'll be rooting for you this month!
  • What do you mean your goals aren't tangible? I think they're great. I used to do yoga... definitely need to get back into that. I hope that it goes well as you step into a new role and more responsibility at work!
