BlogWorld Recap

2009 October 22
by Grace Boyle

After four days in Las Vegas I’m so happy to be looking out my bedroom window, staring at the mountains and breathing fresh air. I think the ringing of the slot machines in my ears are beginning to dissipate. Ah, post BlogWorld.

Here are some of the highlights from BlogWorld Expo 2009:

  • It was my first BlogWorld but I was surprised that we saw a lot of large brands represented. It almost seemed to stray from the core blogging-this can be seen as a growth spurt for the blog world or a new path it’s taking. Furthermore, I spoke with numerous people who were at the conference because they wanted to begin blogging. Yes, begin. To me, this shows that blogging and new media is mainstream. It’s accessible and even people who were in over their head at BlogWorld knew it was something worth going to and jumping in.

I will leave you with a quote from Anthony Edwards (yes, Dr. Mark Green from ER) keynote. I liked hearing from a non-blogger, non-social media ‘guru’. He said, “As we communicate in this medium, let’s do it as if we’re seeing each other face to face…Don’t do it with just your thumbs. Do it face to face, person to person.”
