BlogWorld Recap
After four days in Las Vegas I’m so happy to be looking out my bedroom window, staring at the mountains and breathing fresh air. I think the ringing of the slot machines in my ears are beginning to dissipate. Ah, post BlogWorld.
Here are some of the highlights from BlogWorld Expo 2009:
- I met so many friends I had spoken to, known through blogging and online. Plus, Jun came on a whim for a one day trip to Vegas and he confirmed how small my hands really are! Check out my Flickr set for a BlogWorld 2009 run down and the post on the Lijit Blog, as well.
- Although I was a booth babe and didn’t attend all the sessions, I was able to interact, network and speak with Lijit users that I have been working with but had never met. It’s fulfilling as a company to hear live feedback, connect and spread the word. We gave away all of our (super soft) Lijit t-shirts and everyone loved the purell we handed out (hey, Vegas is dirty and you’re shaking hands all day long).
- It was my first BlogWorld but I was surprised that we saw a lot of large brands represented. It almost seemed to stray from the core blogging-this can be seen as a growth spurt for the blog world or a new path it’s taking. Furthermore, I spoke with numerous people who were at the conference because they wanted to begin blogging. Yes, begin. To me, this shows that blogging and new media is mainstream. It’s accessible and even people who were in over their head at BlogWorld knew it was something worth going to and jumping in.

I will leave you with a quote from Anthony Edwards (yes, Dr. Mark Green from ER) keynote. I liked hearing from a non-blogger, non-social media ‘guru’. He said, “As we communicate in this medium, let’s do it as if we’re seeing each other face to face…Don’t do it with just your thumbs. Do it face to face, person to person.”
