I like your last point about talking with your best friend. Those relationships are so important in life. I know what you mean because although my friends are honest with me and visa versa, I never have to try. It just is.

This is interesting, because I think lately, I haven't been lying a lot. And I think that's because I got rid of a lot of the drama in my life. And also, in parallel, I've been setting expectations realistically. Not perfect, of course, but those have both helped.

Also, since I just had dinner with my best friend last night, I can't tell you how much I value the refreshing honesty that you talk about. I just wrote her an email this morning telling her how much she grounds me (like family does), which I've, of course, told her so many times before. And in that way, just being yourself with someone is the most comfortable kind of non-lying available.
