Friday Linky Love

2010 April 16
by Grace Boyle

My mom told me last night (as I was laying in bed at 9 PM for the second night in a row, because I’m feeling beat), “Grace, you work too hard and play too hard.” I groaned and rolled my eyes, partially because why are mom’s always right and why can’t I work hard, play hard and not ever get sick? Because we’re human, that’s why. Dammit.

Announcements:

  • Boulder Startup Week is May 4-8th. This is a great event put on by Boulder’s own, local startup aficionado’s (I’m helping!) and is a great way to check out this beautiful city, startups, network and enjoy some Colorado beer! You can find more info here or e-mail me with questions!

The startups in town are rolling out the red carpet (not really, I don’t think there is one in town) but figuratively, for you, talented developer, designer, UI, manager or startup enthusiast, to come for a visit.  There are a ton of jobs for developers, marketers, designers and managers (and we need more talent in town!).

The week will be full of coworking, hackathons, hikes, rides, parties, Ignite Boulder (largest Ignite in the world), Boulder New Tech Meetup and many, many more events.

  • Let’s offer Grace and Small Hands, Big Ideas feedback. She wants to listen to you: As you may have seen (previous post) I embraced my first piece of (public) feedback on this blog. I’m also offering a delicious “Boulder mixed bag medley” of gifts, for the lucky winner (Random.org). All you have to do is go here, offer some sort of feedback via comment, then in a week on the 23rd I will announce the winner. This means a lot to me and listening to you, readers (new or OG) is so gratifying and important.

Back to our regular programming, you smart people, you:

  • @Taylor So glad you enjoyed both of them. I found Operation Beautiful recently (she was featured on Oprah, too!) and just melted as well. Thanks for popping by, Taylor :)
  • I haven't known about your blog long enough to offer feedback, but I hope you get what you're looking for. I had to laugh about working too hard and playing too hard - seems to be a common problem...
  • @Stephanie Thanks for stopping by - and it's been interesting, I've had some longtime readers and first time readers offer feedback. It's a great mix - I think there's no prerequisite to offer feedback (even first impressions are fun)!

And yes, common problem working hard and playing hard!
  • Aw, thanks for the link Grace. And it just made me realize you commented too so I'm gonna head over there to chatter a bit. :)
  • @Elisa You're welcome!! I loved that post and of course, your column.
