Reverb 10 – Day One – One Word: Sustainable
This is day one. The first prompt in the month long #Reverb10 that I am participating in (along with hundreds of others). Each day I will be either posting here, tweeting or Tumblr-ing my answer to the prompt in order to reflect and manifest for the future.
Prompt: One Word. Encapsulate the year 2010 in one word. Explain why you’re choosing that word. Now, imagine it’s one year from today, what would you like the word to be that captures 2011 for you?
My word for 2010 is “Sustainable.”
This was the first year in six years, that I didn’t move. I stayed put in my comfy, downtown apartment.
I’m pulling past my second year (September 2008 was 2 years) at my job, that I actually look forward to each day.
I feel like Boulder is home. I created that, it took time to sustain, especially for someone as transient as me.
I have a yoga studio I practice at 3+ times a week.
I have a group of friends that are my family.
A new relationship blossomed, and has since sustained as we folded into each others’ lives in a healthy, progressive manner.
And for the first time from Summer into Fall into Winter season transitions (you know, when everyone gets sick or the sniffles) I haven’t been sick once. Even when everyone around me was. I feel healthier than ever.
I attribute it to a sturdy schedule, lots of yoga and the outdoors, good food/cooking more, macrobiotics and vitamins I now take everyday (I never had diligence to do everyday before) and daily laughter.
For 2011, I opt for my word to be “Forward.”
Near the end of this year, I launched a food blog, Grace(Full)Plate. It was/is a big project, a labor of love and something I believe in. I was invited to review two restaurants and stay at a hotel recently, as a “food blogger” and journalist (all expenses paid). I have ideas flowing out of my ears for moving forward. I will be 25 next year, and think of it as a symbolic age. I think “new” would be my second word if I could pick one, too.
What about you? What is your word for 2010?
