Rock 4 Rorz-Promoting Brain Tumor Awareness Through Rory’s Journey
I have a dear family friend, Rory O’Sullivan who is only 24, but has a stage four brain tumor. This Wednesday, April 29th (tomorrow) in NYC his family, friends and the community are throwing a Rock4Rorz concert to benefit Rory and help raise brain tumor awareness.

I hope you take a moment to read Rory’s story and maybe you will see that the petty issues in life don’t always add up when something as painful and hard to understand, as having a brain tumor at the healthy young age of 24 can do to you and your family. What’s more, the O’Sullivan’s and Rory himself are a pillar of strength. There’s inspiration where wallowing would be and positivity where some might crawl up in a ball and want to hide. I’m moved everyday by their family…
When Rory was only 22 he woke up and couldn’t move his face, at all. After flying home to his parent’s and receiving tests from doctors, they informed him that they had found a golf-ball sized tumor in his frontal lobe and attempted to remove it, but surgeries, chemo and radiation had proven to be unsuccessful. After working hard to find the best doctor in the entire country, a doctor in Houston made the correct diagnosis. Rory had: Glibastoma Multiforme astrocytoma, an aggressive type of tumor.
Successfully, the growth was removed but during the operation, Rory suffered a stroke that had paralyzed the entire life side of his body, from head to toe. This past November, Rory turned 24 and he was dropped from his parents’ insurance policy…which means the O’Sullivan’s will (out of pocket) have to pay for the medical bills of chemotherapy and physical therapy.
Shawn O’Sullivan, Rory’s Father and my dad’s dear friend and business colleague explains, “There is no greater love than the love of one’s children…and there is no greater heartache than to see one of them ill. So many tell us that they can’t imagine what this is like. I tell them not to even try. It is a reality. It is our reality. And we would not change places with anyone. We could not be more proud of our son, Rory, who is one of the most upbeat and kind-hearted people you will ever meet. He will do anything for anyone. He does not ask for anything in return. It is not in his nature to ask for help and when he does it is always on behalf of others.”
So I’m asking from you and anyone else you know, if you’re in NYC check out the lineup and come support the cause. The concert is being held at The Bell House in Brooklyn, NY with headliners like The Fugs, Golden Triangle, White Williams and much more. If you’re not in NYC, but would care to donate (anything helps) I know the O’Sullivan’s would be forever grateful for your contribution. You can donate here via PayPal or any major Credit Card and if you feel so inclined, please spread the word. Thank you…
